dg.THE NOTEBOOK SERIES / No. 13

Protect the margins. Draw your defence.

MAKE EVERY CROSSING COUNT

Build. Adapt. Survive.

  1. Place a Pencil at pad 1. Click a numbered pad or choose it from the list. Select a tower and press Build. The blue ring shows its range.
  2. Start a wave. Preview its enemy type first. Nothing rushes you between waves. Earn ink from kills and clears, with an extra bonus for a clean defence.
  3. Mix your tools. Pencils catch runners. Blotters slow groups. Ink bombs lead their target and splash a pack. Sparks chain and ignore armour. Upgrades raise damage; priority changes who gets hit first.
  4. Use your ink burst. Press E or Aim ink burst, aim on the field, hold left click and release. More charge means a larger, stronger burst. Right click cancels. On mobile, tap to aim then hold the Burst button. It takes 18 seconds of wave time to recharge.
  5. Take a calculated risk. A bold wave has tougher enemies and a bigger clear reward. Every third clear gives a choice of global damage, range or repair. Every fifth brings a boss. There is no final wave.

Keyboard: arrows/WASD change pad or move the burst target; 1–4 choose a tower; B builds; U upgrades; E toggles burst aiming; Space starts the next wave, or hold/release Space to burst during a wave; P/Escape pauses.

Views: Top for planning, 3rd person for the whole board, 1st person from the selected tower. First person uses mouse look or touch dragging and centre aiming. The pad selector remains available in every view. Lock mouse is optional; Escape releases it.

Progress saves on this device between cleared waves. Continue starts from that planning break. Best records are local, with no online leaderboard. Selling refunds 70%; towers cannot block the path. Tower upgrades reach level 121; waves keep coming.

Hold the line.

The wave is paused.
